UA Apollo x4 X Twin

Universal Audio is releasing its new Thunderbolt 3 desktop audio interfaces, Apollo Twin X and Apollo x4 with “elite-class” Apollo X conversion and realtime UAD processing. A livestream event is also being held to celebrate the launch, with a host of workshops, Q&A sessions, and features from the likes of Andrew Huang and Vulfpeck’s Cory Wong.

Apollo x4, the company’s flagship model, is a 12×18 I/O interface with Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, four Unison mic/line preamps and eight ADAT ins and outs.

Apollo Twin X sports 10×6 ins and outs, and has two Unison preamps. Unison preamps offer modelling of classic tube and transformer-based mic preamps and guitar amps, with the ability to match impedance characteristics and circuit behaviours. This includes genuine emulations from API, Neve, Maley, SSL, UA and more.

Apollo Twin X is available in UAD-2 Duo or Quad-core formats, whilst Apollo x4 comes standard with Quad-core processing. With this, tracking through vintage compressors, EQs, tape machines, mic preamps and guitar amp plug-ins can be achieved with “near-zero latency”, UA says. As with all of UA’s hardware products, both of the Apollo desktop interfaces provide access to the UAD platform, and out-of-the-box comes with the Realtime Analog Classics plug-in bundle.

You can watch Universal Audio’s livestream event here.

The Apollo Twin X Duo and Quad are available now for $899 and $1399 respectively. The Apollo x4 costs $1799. Find out more at uaudio.com
